Announcement    My sister Rose and I started drawing as children. We spent hours drawing on notebook paper. I drew lines, circles, and squares. While Rose drew whimsical characters, and purple flowers.

In high school, I became obsessed with drawing fashion. I attended a private school and wore uniforms. I dreamed of all the clothes I would wear that were not plaid.

I attended a small school in Texas and obtained an Associates in Fashion Design. Potential employers did not take me seriously. I was 19 upon graduation, they thought I was too young. So, I started doing freelance illustration and pursued other interests.

Ten years later I became a flight attendant. And in 1995 I was injured in turbulence. There was so much uncertainty, and my doctors were not sure I would ever be able to return to work. I would often take photos of illustrations to show my primary care physician. And one day when I was particularly sad and wondering what I would do next, I asked her "what am I going to do?" And she took the photos that I had brought in to show her and stuck them in my face and said, "you will do this!" She suggested I paint. I had never painted. And I thought she was crazy. Who would buy my work?

The next day I bought art supplies and did my first painting. A few days later I had some friends over for dinner. They ranted and raved over the painting. I thought I was a much better illustrator and had illustrations hanging on my walls, but no one seemed to notice them. I got commissions right away.

Nearly a year later when I returned to work, I never wondered again what I would do. My work can be found in private collections around the world.

Rose who has autism has a shop at roserefour.etsy.com. And she too has work in private collections around the world. And while I have done shows in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, Rose has done shows around the country. And in 2014 she did a show in London.

We have a shared shop with two other creatives where we sell note cards and prints. Noteworthy Crafts has been around since 1999 but we recently started collaborating with other creatives. You can find us at noteworthycrafts.etsy.com.

We lost our mom and both grandmothers to cancer. I am Rose's caregiver and together we use art to raise awareness of causes that are important to us. Including autism and cancer. Rose still likes to draw on notebook paper. And still creates whimsical characters and purple flowers along with abstracts. Feel free to contact us with questions.
